Courting the Mystery of Your Wild Soul:

Engaging Nature and Psyche in the Quest for a Life
of Deep Meaning, Purpose and Reciprocity

A Dedicated SoulcraftTM Practice Group
Fall 2018

Like a wild animal in open terrain,
Soul is mysterious, elusive and shy,
undomesticated and beyond conscious control.

It is the essence of who you are,
the core at the center that informs
your unique way of being and belonging to the world –
yet it remains at the edge of conscious awareness.

Soul reveals itself unexpectedly in dreams,
impossible longings, profound emotion,
numinous encounters with nature,
and those
 moments of crisis that have the power
to both undo and remake you,
transforming your sense of who you really are.

Soul speaks in the forgotten language of the wild —
wind and birdsong, symbol and imagery,
rhythm and poetry, and the simple but astonishing
presence of the Sacred Other…

To be fully human is to strive for a fulfilling life infused with a deep sense of purpose, belonging and meaningful contribution.  We all long to know – or perhaps to remember – who we really are, why we are here, and what is uniquely ours to do in this life. Although the world hungers – especially in these troubled times – for each of us to embody our true nature and bring forth our authentic gifts, there seems to be so little support in our culture for living a soul-centered life, and even less for making the profound changes that are sometimes called for when we finally say Yes! to the insistent whispers of our wild hearts.

This small group of dedicated practitioners will provide a strong and supportive container to welcome the presence of Soul and support you to take a deep dive into the transformative mysteries of nature and psyche. Immersed in wild nature, in the company of others, and in the depths of your own solitude, you will be supported both to plumb the depths and to embody your discoveries in everyday life.

You will practice listening deeply to the fleeting appearances, whispers and intimations of Soul that are calling you to a new way of belonging to the world. You’ll engage in a variety of nature-based Soulcraft practices designed to help you “fall toward the center of your longing” and open up to other windows of knowing. You will be supported to better understand, embrace and embody your unique way of belonging and the unique gifts that you have to offer, as you cultivate a deeply meaningful and reciprocal relationship with the living world.

This group might be right for you if any of the following feel true:

  • You feel called to a larger, more meaningful life than the one you have been living — and you feel ready, or at least willing, to follow that calling;
  • You are engaging, or feeling ready to engage, the big questions of life. (Questions like: Who am I? Why am I here? And what is uniquely mine to do in this world?);
  • You’ve experienced a major loss, challenge or crisis, and you sense a potentially life-changing opportunity in that challenge;
  • You long for the support of a small group and compassionate guidance for your unfolding soul work; or
  • You have recently completed a wilderness vision fast or other deep nature-based work, and you want to deepen your exploration and more fully integrate your experience into your life.

The group meets six full days (Saturdays from 10:00-4:30) over a period of three months. Our days will be spent outdoors on beautiful, magical wild land near Lyons, CO.   Each day will include solo wanders on the land, specific practices to enhance and deepen your connection with wild nature and soul, and time to share and explore with others in the group. Between our group meetings, you’ll be offered a variety of experiential tasks and practices to deepen your personal exploration on your own. Participation in the group also includes one personal mentoring session, to be scheduled at a time of mutual convenience. (And you are welcome to sign up for more personal mentoring, if you choose.)

During our time together, we’ll engage in a variety of nature-based SoulcraftTM practices, including:

  • solitude and “soul tasks” in nature
  • council and self-designed ceremony
  • perceptual exercises designed to deepen awareness and connection
  • communicating with wild nature and cultivating personal relationship with the more-than-human world
  • soul-centered dream work and other ways of engaging the deep imagination
  • working with grief, loss and despair
  • nature-based shadow work
  • self-designed ceremony
  • trance rhythm, poetry, silence, and more…
